Still rising ... slowly

The Edward River at Deniliquin is still rising, albeit slowly.

At the time of going to print yesterday, the river was a 5.63m, having only increased 1cm from the previous morning.

Over the last five days, the greatest daily increase was 2cm.

The State Emergency Service is still predicting a flood peak of 5.8m, but Deniliquin-Conargo Unit Commander Jodie Graham said the SES is keeping a close eye on rain in the catchments.

A significant rainfall event may trigger further releases from the Hume Dam, or an unrestricted flow event.

Deniliquin’s beaches, boast ramps, the Deniliquin Island Sanctuary and sections of the Beach to Beach Walk will remain closed while the river is high.

Any road closured required will be reported on the Edward River Council Facebook page.
