The iconic Ute on the Pole has been removed amidst stability fears.

An Edward River Council spokesperson said that in last week’s inspections of the ute it was revealed the structure was experiencing movement.
“Council has subsequently removed the Holden WB Kingswood to carry out maintenance to the structure, but we are expecting it be reinstated by mid-March,” the spokesperson said.

Deniliquin Police are calling on the public to ‘Dob in a Dealer’ aiming to tackle the issue of methamphetamine (ice), cocaine, MDMA, heroin and cannabis manufacturing and distribution across the nation.
The campaign encourages the community to provide any information to Crime Stoppers via telephone or online.
‘‘Deniliquin Police will support the initiative and urge members of the local community to contact Crimestoppers regarding local drug activity,’’ Inspector Jy Brown said.
Deniliquin Police will be conducting further community engagement activities over the coming weeks around the town.

The Deniliquin Street Bazaar is back for a second year.
Locals and visitors are expected to attend the event held on the Saturday of the Victorian Labour Day weekend.
Held in Cressy St, traffic between Edwardes St and Napier St will be closed on March 9 to accommodate this.

Deniliquin Show Pavilion entries will be closing next week on various dates between February 27 and March 1.
This year’s theme is Australian Flora and Fauna which can be applied to their 21 categories.
Entries must have been finished in the last 12 months and meet the expected strict conditions that creates fair competition.

The Combined Churches of Deniliquin will be joining more than 170 countries on Friday March 1 for World Day of Prayer.
Churches around the world annually come together to pray for disadvantaged groups in a particular country during this day, this year focusing on Central European country, Slovenia.
The core of the theme for WDP 2019 is an invitation ‘Come’ to enable the response ‘Everything is ready’. Praise, thank, and proclaim the kingdom of love.
The Combined Churches of Deniliquin will gather at the Uniting Church at 7pm on Friday March 1 to support this event.
All community members are invited to join the evening which will be followed by supper.

Handiflight Around the World is landing in Deniliquin today.
The flight will land for a few hours arriving about 11.30am from Renmark and will depart about 4pm for Bendigo.
Visiting will be pilot of CTLS aircraft Eric Dabas and another three individuals in their support plane.
French pilot Eric Dabas is wheelchair bound but still making an incredible trip visiting six continents and 40 countries.
This flight was temporarily put on hold when the second disabled pilot, Mike Lomberg, was killed when his CTLS aircraft crashed on approach to Bang Phra Airport in Thailand in December last year.
They made the difficult decision to continue the flight with the remaining CTLS.
After lunch with the Deniliquin Aero Club the Deniliquin Lions Club will be taking them on a houseboat trip on the Edward River.
