To mark 10 years of GSCC’s contributions, a special event will be held on Tuesday, October 15, at The Woolshed at Emerald Bank to honour the community groups that have benefited from its support.
The program, a partnership between Bendigo Bank Shepparton and a board of local community members, is dedicated to supporting local groups and organisations.
Within the last decade, GSCC has donated over $700,000 to more than 130 local groups, fostering growth, development, and a stronger sense of community in Greater Shepparton.
Even at its upcoming event, it is not slowing down in terms of giving.
“In addition to invited guests, GSCC is offering a limited number of tickets to Greater Shepparton community groups and organisations who may not have already received an invitation,” GSCC chair Lana Young said.
“This is a unique opportunity for more local groups to join us in celebrating 10 years of community-building and to learn more about how GSCC can support their projects.”
Attending groups have a chance to win big for their future projects, with three $1000 prizes up for grabs to boost their initiatives.
“All attending groups will have the chance to win, making it a night of recognition, celebration, and opportunity for future impact,” Ms Young said.
The GSCC’s success over the past decade has been fuelled by an innovative funding model, where community members link their Bendigo Bank accounts to generate funds at no personal cost.
Each month, Bendigo Bank chips in a commission to the GSCC fund, which is then shared among local groups through a grant application process.
“Bendigo Bank Shepparton is deeply invested in the wellbeing of Greater Shepparton through its community model,” Bendigo Bank Shepparton manager Bridget Dwyer said.
“Over the past decade, this initiative has helped support grassroots sports clubs, educational programs, and community projects, creating a stronger, more connected community.”
One example of the impact of GSCC is the recent installation of a new netball scoreboard at Undera Football Netball Club, highlighting the tangible benefits of the partnership between GSCC, Bendigo Bank, and the local community.
As GSCC looks to the future, it is committed to empowering local organisations through financial support and strong community connections.
The upcoming anniversary event not only celebrates a decade of achievements but also sets the stage for another 10 years of community success.
