At least five vehicles left parked at Deniliquin’s Hardinge St Oval on Saturday evening were targeted.
Smash-and-grab style, a number of them were significantly damaged and had windows smashed in the process.
Police also received some reports over the weekend of vehicles being targeted in the driveways of homes.
In one instance, a teenager was later spoken to near the Deniliquin home and will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Murray River Police District Detective Chief Inspector Jy Brown said it’s a timely reminder for people to ensure they remove all valuables from their car where possible.
He also urged community members to be wary, and to report any suspicious activity.
The total value of damage and lost property reported by those who left their cars parked at Hardinge St Oval is still being calculated.
However Det Chief Insp Brown said among the items missing is a young local tradie’s collection of power tools.
