Small stove fire at hospital

Deniliquin’s Fire + Rescue NSW brigade was called to Deniliquin Hospital on Sunday afternoon after reports of a cooking fire.

The fire alarm in the staff area was sounded at about 2.50pm, and by the time firefighters arrived the fire had been extinguished.

Deputy Captain Les Booth confirmed the fire had started on the stove top.

Firefighters assisted in ventilating smoke from the room.

False alarm

Firefighters were called to north Deniliquin just before 6pm on Friday on reports of smoke emanating from a nearby home.

Firefighters confirmed the blaze was a controlled bonfire, for which the occupant had sought and been granted a permit.

Any burns within the township of Deniliquin first need approval from the Edward River Council, and then a permit from the Deniliquin brigade.
