Last month Goldwind conducted initial assessment of a single-owner agricultural lot within the Murray River Council area and bordering on the Edward River Council area.
The lot encompasses about 150,000 acres — or 600kmsup2 — of grazing land.
The north of the property is bisected by the Sturt Highway toward Darlington Point, while the east runs parallel to Moulamein Rd.
According to Baldon Wind Farm, the site could host anywhere between 140 and 170 turbines, which are expected to generate a collective 900 megawatts of electricity — equivalent to the average electricity consumption of at least 500,000 NSW homes.
Following the completion of its initial assessment, project stakeholders have now entered into consultation with the community.
Initial meetings were held at the Moulamein Bowling Club on February 23 and February 24.
‘‘The project is at an early stage of development,’’ a spokesperson for the Baldon Wind Farm said.
‘‘We are carrying out early community engagement and are currently preparing a scoping report, which will be submitted to the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.’’
