Sarah just became $20,000 richer for shopping at local business Ritchie’s IGA.
To celebrate their 152nd birthday, Ritchie’s launched a Shop to Win promotion with more than $100,000 in cash and prizes.
There was $40,000 in cash and $60,000 in gift cards to be won, and residents in Victoria, Queensland and NSW were eligible to enter during the promotion period from September 14 to October 11.
Any purchase of $30 or more in a single transaction gained you entry.
You then were asked to go online to add your purchase receipt number, and cross your fingers that you would be a winner.
Sarah must have had everything crossed as her wishes were answered.
She received a phone call to notify her that she was a major prize winner out of thousands of entries received.
“When I told my partner Brad (Thomas) he didn’t believe me. It took a while for reality to sink in,” she said.
“I was surprised but happy.
“I knew I had to share with it with my partner, as it was probably his beer receipts that won.”
Sarah entered four or five receipts.
In addition to the $20,000 cash, she also won a $300 Ritchie’s gift card.
The winnings will likely be spent on Christmas treats, spoiling their young son Nat and perhaps a holiday.
Ritchie’s IGA Deniliquin store manager Steve Murray said it was fantastic to see a Deniliquin winner, especially as Ritchie’s only took over the local supermarket in September.
“We received thousands of entries and one of our major winners comes from little old Deni”, Steve said.
“We are so pleased to see a young family receive the prize and as a business we are growing in momentum.
“Deniliquin is our most recent acquisition which we took over six weeks ago.”
There were eight other local winners of gift cards ranging in price from $300 to $1000.
The other $20,000 cash prize went to a shopper from Timboon in Victoria.
