The Deniliquin-Conargo SES Unit has increased its efforts to provide local residents with sandbags in the wake of increased river levels and the heavy rainfall during the past two days.

Unit Commander Jodie Graham said the SES was working in conjunction with the Rural Fire Service to create a cache of sandbags at the moment.
She said sandbags are available at three Deniliquin locations; on Hay Road, at the Old Scout Hall in Victoria Street and in Hetherington Street, at the corner of Crispe Street.
The Deniliquin area is under a current Watch and Act alert, with the Bureau of Meterology predicting up to 100mm in falls likely from Wednesday morning through yesterday, however it defined the rain event as unpredictable.
Deniliquin and Finley received 29mm in the 24 hours to 9am yesterday, however the major falls were expected later in the day and into last night.
In the same period, Echuca received 55mm and Hay 21mm.
A minor to moderate flood warning exists for the Murray and Edward rivers at Corowa, Torrumbarry, Barham, Wakool Junction, Boundary Bend, Deniliquin, Stevens Weir and Moulamein.
Currently, moderate flooding is occurring at Stevens Weir, with minor flooding at Deniliquin and Moulamein.
The Edward River at Deniliquin was expected to near 6.5m late yesterday, or into today, with minor flooding.
The Edward River at Stevens Weir Downstream is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (5.8m) through the remainder of October.
Stevens Weir Downstream was predicted to reach 6.3m late yesterday or this morning.
It is predicted the Edward River at Moulamein may reach 4.9m today, with minor flooding.
The Murray River at Albury fell below minor flood level (4.3m) around 6.30pm Monday, where the river level varies with releases from Hume Dam and floodwaters from the Kiewa River, and is currently at 4.1m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Murray River downstream of Hume Dam to Tocumwal has moderate flooding at Corowa.
The river level at Corowa is currently at 6.14m and steady.
It is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (5.9m) for the remainder of this week and into next week.
Flood operations are being conducted by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) at Hume Dam to manage inflows from the upper Murray, Mitta Mitta River and other tributaries.
The MDBA is working closely with the Bureau of Meteorolgy and WaterNSW to plan release strategies.
Downstream along the Murray River, moderate flooding continues at Torrumbarry and Barham.
Floodwaters from the Murray River combined with floodwaters from the Edward River have caused minor flooding at Wakool Junction and may cause minor flooding at Boundary Bend from early next week.
The Murray River at Torrumbarry Weir may remain around 7.7m for the remainder of this week, with moderate flooding.
The Murray River at Barham was predicted to reach 6.05m yesterday, with moderate flooding.
The Murray River downstream of Barham to Wentworth has minor flooding at Wakool Junction and is possible at Boundary Bend.
The Murray River at Wakool Junction may reach 9.7m his coming weekend, with minor flooding.
The Murray River at Boundary Bend may reach the minor flood level (8.0m) early next week.
The SES advises people to:
• Stay out of rising water and seek refuge in the highest available place:
• Prevent damage to your vehicle by moving it under cover, away from areas likely to flood;
• Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains; and
• Never drive, ride or walk through flood water.
