Dr Sushil Sah, an experienced medical practitioner from Nepal, brings over a decade of expertise to Shiloh Medical Practice.
Dr Sah has a passion for rural and remote healthcare and has worked in some particularly remote communities in the mountains and valleys of Nepal.
With nearly half of Nepal's population residing in rural or remote areas, Dr Sah understands the challenges of accessing healthcare - an experience that resonates with many in our own community.
The inclusion of Dr Sah now gives Shiloh Medical Practice two doctors, a nurse practitioner and registered nurse as part of their team of medical professionals.
Speaking with Dr Sah about how he landed in Deni, he spoke about his desire to be in a quiet place.
“I enjoy living in a place which is quiet, with less traffic and population and Deni has all of these,” he said.
“It was not intentional to find Deni.
“I had my exam in Swan Hill, when tragically my supervisor passed away due to illness.
“From there I had to search again for a place similar in many ways to be considered by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency for medical registration (in Australia).
“In the searching process I came in to contact with Dr (Sydney) Paul and ended up here in Deni.”
The arrival of another dedicated doctor to our town brings hope and relief, promising to ease the pressures on Shiloh Medical Practice and other local healthcare providers.
But more are still needed.
Incentive programs continue to be investigated and offered, including assistance from Edward River Council for doctors relocating.
Dr Sah hopes to relocate his family to Deniliquin in the near future.
