They were named as the recipients of the Greg Graham Memorial Scholarship and the Peter Connor Book Award for 2021 respectively.
Tom is in his third year of a four year Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree at Charles Sturt University, and lives on campus in Wagga.
He said he was grateful that this scholarship would help him pay for accommodation, text books and equipment related to his tertiary study, allowing him to give full attention to his course plan.
James is in his final year of a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree at La Trobe University, Bundoora.
He was a rice extension university work placement student in 2019, and has worked as a farm labourer and on local dairy farms during his holidays.
The Peter Connor Book Award reduces the need for James to work during his study year, allowing him more time for studies.
The Greg Graham Memorial Scholarship is valued at $10,000, and the Peter Connor Book Award is worth $3000.
Since the awards were introduced in 2001, 40 agriculture students have benefited from the generosity and foresight of SunRice, Rice Research and rice industry supporters.
