Stage one will run in Deniliquin from February 11-14, with all meals and accommodation provided by the program.
The program aims to establish a self-replenishing cohort of rice industry leaders who are diverse in knowledge, skills, and experience to support the industry's future.
This will be achieved through a series of development programs that focus on various skill levels and a diverse range of topics.
Participants will gain skills, networks, and experience to take into the rice industry, community, or their own businesses.
This program is designed for new and/or inexperienced people with a passion and interest in the rice industry, supporting industries/communities, or running their own businesses.
Stage one is a four-day interactive residential program that will focus on industry leadership development in research and development, policy, advocacy, and sustainability of the rice industry.
This course will give participants exposure to expert speakers and key industry leaders to build their networks and leadership skills.
Four participants will then be selected from stage one to attend a two day workshop in Canberra for stage two.
They will meet with leaders in organisations such as Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, National Farmers’ Federation and National Irrigators’ Council, and the Australian Parliament.
They will develop networking and advocating skills learnt in stage one.
