With the dust not yet quite settled from the Ute Muster, the site has now been transformed into a temporary base camp run by the NSW Rural Fire Service to accommodate emergency response personnel and equipment.

The main aim for the base camp is to house emergency response personnel during the flood emergency, aiming to reduce the burden on accommodation in Deniliquin.
The camp can accommodate up to 200 personnel who will support and partner with the local community.
Area Commander Heath Stimson from the North Western Command area is impressed with the site and all the assistance given by Ute Muster general manager Vicky Lowry and her team.
“As a community organisation we are happy to be able to provide a service on our site,” Mrs Lowry said.
Mr Stimson said it was “clear to see Vicky has the best interest of the community at heart and her leadership shown has been invaluable to us and the success of the village we have created”.
The camp enables all of the emergency services to be in close proximity to where they are required, making response times much more efficient and effective.
The RFS is engaging with the community in a response capacity as well as utilising as many services as possible from local businesses.
The camp has made purchases from the local community such as water tanks, fuel, pumps and water supply to name a few.
As well as their traditional tents, they are also hiring huts from South Australian company Humanihut which are providing innovative, robust temporary emergency accommodation solutions.
The camp also aims to provide a positive experience to the emergency personnel who are away from home, away from their families and the priority is to provide support for them performing different roles away from their local area.
The site is set up with decontamination facilities for both equipment and personnel, medical facilities, laundry services, showers and toilets, accommodation, meal catering and a mess room for television and dining.
The site also has adequate space to house the revolving door of large equipment coming in and out.
