An event of growing size and importance since being established nine years ago, the Deniliquin Truck Show & Industry Expo will be hosted at the Deniliquin Festival Site for the first time tomorrow.
Proudly supported by the Rotary Club of Deniliquin, it brings truck owner/operators, transport businesses and associations and families together to celebrate one of the biggest industries operating in our region.
Deniliquin Truck Show and Industry Expo president Leesa Muir said the partnership with Play on the Plains to use the festival site, which is home to the Deni Ute Muster, means plenty of room for even more to see and do.
“We can not only cater to more trucks, but also more trade sites and entertainment options,” she said.
“We will have dedicated truck show ‘n’ shine and car and motorbike show ‘n’ shine areas, family-friendly entertainment like a petting zoo, jumping castle, face painting, giant sandpit and giant Jenga game, a craft station and even a health hub.
“In the hub you can have mini health checks done, and check in with some of our partner organisations for information and support pathways for your mental health and overall wellbeing.
“Add to that a growing list of trade sites, business and emergency services displays, food stands, auction and raffles, and you may never want to leave.”
Admission is $15 per person, and free for under-16s. Book online at www.trybooking.com/CUQKS, or pay at the gate.
An additional fee of $15 is applied for each truck entered in the show ‘n’ shine, payable at the truck show office on site. No additional costs apply for car and motorbike entrants.
Unless you’re arriving with an entry for the show ‘n’ shine competitions, entry is via the main Deni Ute Muster gates on Conargo Rd from 10am.
Show ‘n’ shine entrants are asked to enter via the Moonee Swamp entrance, where you will be directed to the appropriate assembly areas.
Entrants may arrive from 7am. Winners will be announced at 2pm, following the auction and raffle draw.
Before the action kicks off tomorrow, the truck show committee’s Deniliquin and District Transport Wall of Fame induction dinner will be held at the Deniliquin RSL Club tonight.
Ten nominations were received this year, with inductees to be announced during the sell-out dinner.
The evening will also include an auction and guest speaker Donna Vawdrey, who has published a book on her mother Thora ‘Toots’ Holzheimer’s time in the trucking industry.
The weekend will conclude with a memorial service at the Deniliquin and District Wall of Fame in Davidson St, Deniliquin at 11am Sunday.
A short service will be led by chaplain and truck enthusiast Josh Renn.
Plaques paying tribute to a further 10 district transport industry workers who have lost their lives will be dedicated on the day.
