Ausnet recently announced the funding as part of its energy resilience fund.
REA is a group of community volunteers that works with Avenel and surrounding community residents to lower their energy bills.
This substantial funding is earmarked for an extensive educational initiative aimed at increasing awareness and understanding of renewable energy among local residents.
This initiative aims to foster a greater appreciation for sustainable practices.
And RAE volunteers hope it will also equip the community with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about energy consumption, which leads to energy resilience.
This is to be achieved at a one-day event known as the Avenel Switch Forum, which will serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing, networking and hands-on learning, bringing together experts, enthusiasts and community members passionate about renewable energy.
One of the most exciting aspects of this educational initiative is the dedicated children’s session.
It recognises the importance of instilling sustainable values from a young age, and REA will present interactive and engaging activities specifically for young people.
These sessions will include fun and informative workshops, hands-on demonstrations and creative projects that will help young minds grasp the concepts of renewable energy.
An REA spokesperson said by empowering the next generation with knowledge about sustainability, they were laying the foundation for a greener and more responsible future.
The Avenel Switch Forum will feature an impressive line-up of keynote speakers, including renowned experts in the field of renewable energy.
These leaders will share their insights, experiences and visions for a sustainable future, inspiring attendees to take actionable steps towards embracing renewable energy in their own lives and communities.
In addition to the keynote addresses, the forum will offer a series of workshops designed to provide practical knowledge and skills.
These workshops will cover a range of topics, from understanding the basics of renewable energy systems to exploring advanced technologies and innovations.
Participants will have the opportunity to enhance their understanding and confidence in renewable energy practices.
An REA spokesperson said the $24,000 grant from AusNet marked a significant milestone in the journey towards a sustainable future for Avenel and surrounding communities.
“Through comprehensive educational programs, engaging children’s sessions in the impactful Avenel Switch Forum and its follow-up initiatives, this project will empower individuals with the knowledge and tools needed to embrace renewable energy,” the spokesperson said.
“The generous support from AusNet is greatly appreciated.
“Their willingness to invest in energy resilience reflects their broader vision of fostering a sustainable and environmentally conscious society.”
