Its draft Domestic Waste Management Policy is now on public exhibition after being adopted by the council last week.
Introducing the three-bin system marks a significant step forward in council’s commitment to efficient and sustainable waste management practices.
The initiative aims to streamline waste disposal processes, enhance recycling efforts, and reduce the environmental impact of our waste.
The proposed rules within the draft policy cover various aspects of waste management, including bin allocation, collection schedules, acceptable materials for each bin type, and penalties for non-compliance.
“We believe that involving our community in the decision-making processes is crucial, especially when it comes to matters that directly impact their daily lives,“ council CEO Phil Stone said.
“The three-bin system is a step towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, and we want our residents to play an active role in shaping these changes.”
The draft policy can be accessed from the ERC website (www.edwardriver.nsw.gov.au), or hard copies are available at council’s customer service centre.
Submissions will be accepted until the close of business on Friday, March 22. Submissions are to be in writing, addressed to the CEO and sent to PO Box 270, Deniliquin NSW 2710.
Enquiries regarding items on public exhibition can be directed to council’s customer service centre on 5898 3000 or via email to council@edwardriver.nsw.gov.au.
