Southies on Xmas card
A few familiar Deni faces will be hitting mailboxes all over the Farrer electorate in coming days and weeks.
A photo of Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley and Deniliquin South School’s Year 6 class has been selected as the image for Ms Ley’s Christmas card this year.
The image was revealed late last week.
The photo was taken during the school’s annual Canberra excursion.
On the day the Year 6 students were at Parliament House - a highlight of the annual excursion - our country’s politicians were also launching their Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal.
The students were invited to assist Member for Farrer Sussan Ley drop off gifts for families in need.
Parliament shoutout for PT
The Pastoral Times was honoured on Friday to have been the subject of a Community Recognition Statement by NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton.
Ms Dalton stood in Parliament to acknowledge our 165th anniversary or bringing news and sport to the district community.
“Today I recognise a remarkable institution, the Deniliquin Pastoral Times, which has proudly served as the voice of the community for an extraordinary 165 years,” she said in Parliament.
“Founded in 1859, during an era when news travelled no faster than a horse could carry it, the Pastoral Times became a vital thread in the fabric of Deniliquin life.
“Today, the Deniliquin Pastoral Times is a modern beacon of community journalism, published twice a week and staying connected with its readers through an extensive online presence.”
