Year six students Millie Smith and Sophie Doherty wrote a summary of the day as they saw it.
“On Friday, April 28 our school held an ANZAC Day Ceremony to pay our respects to those who fought and died to bring peace to our country,” the students said.
“Our official party consisted of Rory Clancy, Darcy Nilsson, Sid Clancy, Jake Wharton, Jack McGrillen, Grace Macdonald, Bella Knox, Tom Bull, Sophie Doherty, Logan Andrews, Sophie Taylor, Harley Benger and Millie Smith.”
The school invited distinguished guests to the ceremony including Noel Porter and Richard Davies from Legacy, along with Don Ward and Allan Edwards from the Deniliquin RSL Sub-branch.
Claire Wing played the trumpet, sounding The Last Post and Reveille and Sophie Taylor read The Ode.
ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance for Australians and New Zealanders at home and around the world.
The day marks the anniversary of the bloody battle at Gallipoli for ANZAC soldiers in World War 1 on April 25, 1915, with veterans of all wars now thanked and remembered.
