A Mathoura tradition which has been part of our Christmas festivities for a very long time will not take place this year.

Regulations are preventing the Mathoura Rural Fire Service brigade from conducting its annual Yuletide run through the streets and out at Picnic Point, delivering lollies to enthusiastic youngsters.
However the brigade remains hopeful that it will have Santa back on the job next year, so the fun will return.
In the meantime, thanks to the girls and boys who have been involved in the project for the many years it has operated.

People who live in the ‘big smoke’ think that we ‘bushies’ just sit back and watch the grass grow to fill in our time.
In fact we live in God’s own country and we know how to party.
One example of this is the Bunnaloo Ball.
Organised by the Four Halls and a Weighbridge Committee, the next ball will be held on Friday, March 11.
You will be able to kick up your heels to some great music and tuck in to some fantastic baking that you’ll only find in the bush.
Check the committee out on Facebook or contact Ross Berryman on ross- berryman@hotmail.com for more information

Tarragon Lodge in flood in early November. Photos by Paul Clear.
Good news for both locals and visitors is that the Picnic Point area is returning to some sort of normality after the floods.
Caravan and unit owners will hopefully get their dwellings in order for Christmas so they can sit back and enjoy the special period of the year with their families and friends
