On Saturday he scored 37 points to win A-grade and the coveted Borella Cup and on Wednesday was the A-grade runner-up with 35.
Since the new system started only a few weeks ago, golfers can select which tee to play from – white, red or yellow – on Wednesday and Saturday competition days, with their handicap adjusted accordingly.
Board events must be played from the true markers ie. white for men, and red for women.
Apart from Ramsey, most players found the going tough on Saturday.
A-grade runner-up was Gary Stephens with 33 points, B-grade winner was Peter Thompson 36 from runner-up Marg Rothwell 34, and C-grade winner was Leanne Mulham 35 from runner-up David Grant 33.
Only 29 points was needed to figure in the ball comp.
Last Thursday the ladies played a fourball knockout qualifier.
Winners were Jane Armytage and Sarah Young with 43 points from runners-up Jenny Swainger and Marg Radeski 39.
Wednesday’s A-grade winner was Tom Maw on 36 points from runner-up Des Ramsey 35, and B-grade winner was Peter Seely 40 points from runner-up Ken Maher 38.
This weekend we have a versus par event for the Bruce Laing Cup on Saturday, followed by the Mixed Keno 2-person Ambrose on Sunday.
Next Tuesday is a 9 holes versus par event, Wednesday is stableford and Thursday is Irish stableford. Saturday week is fourball best ball.
