The stadium was closed most of a last week for the floors to be re-sealed.
And stadium manager John Arthur said R&B Timber Flooring - appointed by Edward River Council - did a marvellous job.
“The floors have had two coats of HydroThane, which means the floor should not need doing again for a few years,” Arthur said.
“It provides a better sports surface and better grip, and I thank council for organising the work.
“The process is normally completed once a year, but because we only have two courts we find that court one - closest the grandstand - is used a little more than a court normally would be.
“As the HydroThane wears off during this use, the grip lessens.
“Everyone is going to love the new surface.”
Sanding of the floors started Tuesday last week, and the second HydroThane coat was completed Friday.
Arthur said one round of basketball and one round of badminton had to be missed because of the maintenance work, but that the stadium would reopen for competitions from today.
Treat for an important cause
There’s never been a better reason to treat yourself.
Josh’s Bakehouse Deniliquin will make a donation to the Dry July fundraiser every time you buy one of their delicious cupcakes.
It is all to support the efforts of Felicity Gallagher who, with her siblings, is raising money for the Mark Hughes Foundation in their brother Paul’s honour.
Paul, otherwise known as ‘Sconehead’, lost his battle with a rare form of brain cancer in February this year.
Felicity, sister Natalie Lea and brother Brett Norris are all doing Dry July at the same time to “assist families who have or will go through what we have”.
The Mark Hughes Foundation’s mission is to raise much needed funds for research, to create awareness and support brain cancer patients and their families.
You can also donate to the Norris siblings’ fundraising efforts by going to www.dryjuly.com and searching their name.
Challenge accepted
Young Lego fans have an outlet to explore their creativity with other fans, thanks to the formation of a dedicated club.
The first meeting of Lego Club will be hosted this afternoon at the Deniliquin Baptist Church, in the old Edward Theatre in Edwardes St. It will then be held every Tuesday after.
It is for those aged five to 12, and runs from 4pm to 5.30pm. The cost per session is $2.
After a quick snack, the youngsters will be set an individual or team Lego challenge. They then get free time to create whatever they want.
Parents are welcome to stay for a cuppa.
