Having outlived its time as a public art piece at the Peppin Heritage Centre, the ute was put into storage and replaced with a scrap metal ute sculpture created by local artist Stuart Taylor.
But it was never intended to stay hidden for long.
After a bit of a refurbishment, the mosaic ute is now on display at Ute Muster HQ at the muster site.
The mosaic ute was an ongoing community project to transform utes into a unique art piece that celebrates rural culture, landscape and Deniliquin’s place as the Ute Capital of the World.
The removal team lovingly collected some tiles which fell off and they intend to glue these back on.
New Tip Hours
Hours have been reduced at the Deniliquin Landfill Depot temporarily.
Edward River Council said due to public feedback and compliance reviews, hours will be reduced for maintenance and important environmental compliance work.
Starting Monday, and lasting about three months, the depot can be accessed between 8.30am and 1pm daily.
“By reducing our opening hours to the public, council will be better positioned to address the issues currently affecting the community and environment, including rubbish being blown into neighbouring properties, pile compaction, improvement of the facility aesthetics and odour control,” council said.

Senator Perin Davey takes 10,000 steps a day
Taking 10,000 steps a day is a challenge Senator Perin Davey has taken on this September.
The Deniliquin-based senator has committed to raising funds and awareness of Cerebral Palsy through STEPtember.
Every dollar raised will provide vital equipment, therapy and services to children and adults living with Cerebral Palsy as well as further research and innovative technology.
