Lucie Galvin and Nathan Stephens threw their hats in the air just last Friday, graduating from the Police Academy in Goulburn after an eight month course.
They started at the Deniliquin Police Station on Monday, quickly getting stuck into their careers as police officers.
The first few days consisted of induction, after which they were rostered on for general duties.
Both probationary constables learned they would be stationed at Deniliquin a month ago.
Prob Const Stephens, 22, is from Wilton in NSW, half an hour from Wollongong.
‘‘I arrived over the weekend, and I am looking forward to getting started,’’ he said.
Prob Const Stephens is interested in progressing forward in his policing career, and soaking up all he can.
Prob Const Galvin, 23, of Wollongong , is also excited to begin her career.
She said she wanted to get into policing to make a difference in people’s lives.
‘‘I want to help people,’’ she shared.
‘‘I heard from a guest speaker (from the police) at university, and what she said resonated with me so I decided to sign up.’’
The pair are eager to learn and look forward to serving the community.
