Transgrid will have representatives in the local area to attend the Moualemin men’s health night on February 15, of which it is one of three major sponsors.
While in the region, community information sessions for the NSW section of the VNI West project will be held in Wagga Wagga, Jerilderie, Conargo, Mallan, Moulamein, and Wanganella from February 10-13.
The sessions will outline Transgrid’s progress on the development of the project’s Environmental Impact Statement and share information on technical studies in relation to issues including biodiversity, heritage, water, land, transport, noise and visual amenity.
Executive general manager of stakeholder, regulatory and corporate affairs Maryanne Graham said the EIS is expected to go on public exhibition in mid-2025.
The project team will also continue to discuss priorities for community investment and benefits at the sessions.
“Residents, landowners and key stakeholders are encouraged to attend information sessions to help ensure the community continues to have its say on these important issues and help us to plan this critical transmission project,” Ms Graham said.
“VNI West is essential to the delivery of Australia’s energy transition, meeting net zero targets and providing consumers with access to cheaper and cleaner renewable energy.”
The NSW section of VNI West is a 235km, 500kV double-circuit transmission line from Dinawan substation north of Jerilderie to the Murray River, north of Kerang.
It will connect renewable energy zones in NSW and Victoria to the national electricity grid, delivering cleaner and cheaper electricity to families and businesses.
