New furniture that is both comfortable and suitable for older people is required for Navorina’s communal spaces.
Community fundraising and business donations to date have allowed Navorina to purchase some new furniture, but it says more will be required to meet the needs of residents.
“We’ll be buying the furniture in stages as funding becomes available, and we are thankful to The Depot for donating the use of a truck so we can collect the furniture from Sydney to eliminate delivery fees,” Navorina CEO Paul Turner said.
“The first order is being processed now, but that only gets us part of the way there.
“We need new tables and chairs, and lounges.
“The type and quality is being carefully selected so we can make the residents as comfortable as we can, and to provide the best quality of life for them in their home.
“Navorina was built by the community and is owned by the community, and it is our residents who will benefit from that continued approach.”
Mr Turner said Navorina has Deductible Gift Recipients (DGR) status, which makes now the perfect time for businesses to consider making a donation to the aged care home’s furniture fund.
“We have recently received some assistance from the Rotary Club of Deniliquin and Yield Insurance, and we invite any other business or organisation who wishes to invest in community aged care to help us strengthen this place,” Mr Turner said.
“Any donations made before June 30 may be tax deductible.
“While new furniture is our focus right now, we also have some other exciting developments coming up soon and people are also welcome to speak to us about how they can support those projects too.”
