The club has Tim Holobowski returning as co-coach, joining non-playing coach Sam Hall at the helm for the 2020 Murray Football League season .
Star onballer Todd Gallagher is the assistant coach, while Jake Cavallaro and Sam Callanan have been reappointed co-coaches of the reserves after leading their side into finals last year.
Hall said Friday night is about welcoming all new and returning players to the club, and inviting all club people along to share in the excitement for the season ahead.
‘‘It’s something we did last year and it was very well received,’’ Hall said.
‘‘It’s a chance to get everyone together, including our past players, and for everyone to mix in and enjoy a few drinks and a barbecue.
‘‘This will be one of the last functions before the clubroom renovations so it’s also a chance to celebrate that.
‘‘The night’s very informal — I’ll say a few words and one of the club’s executive will do the same. Everyone’s invited to come along.
‘‘One of our core values is inclusiveness so everyone will be made welcome.’’
The Rams returned to their pre-season training last Thursday night — a solid hour-and-a-half session that included a 2km time trial.
Talented teenager Will Shaw led the field of 26 home, clocking 7.09 minutes. Next in were Lachie MacDonald (7.20), Ryan MacDonald (7.31) and Brett Rose (7.48).
‘‘I was very happy with the turnout and the times overall,’’ Hall said.
‘‘As always, there’s blokes who are on top of their fitness and some with some work to do. It’s just a starting point and we’ll continue to build.
‘‘The best thing has been everyone’s attitude so far — blokes were giving everything pre-Christmas and that looks like it will flow into this year judging on Thursday night’s efforts.’’
Anyone interested in joining the Rams’ ranks will be most welcome. The club trains each Tuesday and Thursday starting at 5.45pm.
