Long-running fundraiser nets $11,000

The footpath outside My Shop in Napier St, Deniliquin came alive with chatter and colour on Thursday, for the annual Cancer Council Australia Daffodil Day event.

My Shop has been running the fundraiser for more than 25 years now, and once again the community came out in support.

My Shop owner Denise Phillips and a number of community members and friends sold daffodils, slices, cakes and raffle tickets to raise funds for Daffodil Day.

It was a huge success once again, with more than $11,000 raised so far and more donations coming in.

The grand total was boosted by a donation from the Rotary Club of Deniliquin, which provided $2000 to go toward cancer research and support.

Denise extended her thanks to all the volunteers, supporters and the businesses who donated the raffle prizes - Cottages on Edward and Purtill Group.

Liz Whykes won first prize in the raffle, which was a Cottages on Edward accommodation package.

The $100 Ampol cash card was won by Marlene McGay and Kevin Hall won the family pass to The Depot.
