The group moved into the Multi Arts Hall in Cressy St last week, and have wasted no time in bringing the community its first exhibition in the new space.
On display is art from Mel Anderson, who recently relocated to Deniliquin and is already taking inspiration from her new surroundings.
Feedback on the new space and the exhibition has already been very positive.
The Mel Anderson Exhibition will run through until October 31, and the artist will be conducting clay handbuilding workshops on Saturdays throughout the exhibition.
The gallery is open from 10am to 3pm Wednesday to Saturday.
Reunion’s ‘Roaming Brian’
For those who follow the AFL coverage closely, a fixture of the free-to-air coverage after every Friday night game is AFL legend and commentator Brian Taylor’s segment speaking with players in the winning team’s change rooms.
Through his impromptu questions, he often uncovers some great stories.
At the Deniliquin District Cricket Association Reunion night on Saturday, a ‘Roaming Brian’ made an appearance.
Not Brian Taylor, but the DDCA’s very own legend Brian King.
Circling the packed tables that filled the Deni RSL Mountbatten Room, there was nowhere to hide from Brian, try as some did.
Many fond and not-so-fond cricketing tales were shared, with some stories even raising Roaming Brian’s catchphrases - including “Boy oh, boy; wowee”.
Overall, it was a highlight of a great night with Brian doing an impressive job, giving Brian Taylor a run for his money.
Cricketing visitors hit Deni Greens
Still on the cricket reunion, Deni put on a great weekend for guest speakers and Aussie cricketing trio Aaron Finch, Andrew McDonald, and Tim Ludeman.
As well as appearing at the DDCA events - including headlining the Sportsman’s Night on Saturday, and being on the sidelines when the Rhinos started their season on Saturday - they got a taste of some of Deni’s other attractions.
The former Australian captain, current Australian coach and their great state teammate were exceedingly generous with their time and stories, stopping for photos and chats with the general public.
They revealed plenty of insights on Saturday night which they shared with those in attendance in good faith.
Between their commitments, the avid golfers made sure to get out on the greens at the Deni Golf Club.
Complimenting the course and the town on Saturday night, the players referred to the course as beautiful but admitted they were probably not playing at their best.
But they announced on Sunday they would give it another go on Sunday, following the golfers' mantra that ‘tomorrow’ is always the next best day for golf.
