It’s not uncommon to have fire engines and police cars whipping through town with ‘guns blazing’, or the occasional ambulance.
The PT team was caught unaware, however, when we noted it was actually the Deniliquin Rescue Squad - VRA Rescue NSW team.
A few calls to our agency contacts revealed the squad was called to assist police at a local home, and their job was done within just a few minutes.
Specific details of the incident were not known at the time of going to print.
Start to Think B4U Click
Deniliquin’s biggest ever shop local campaign, Think B4U Click has begun.
The show of support from local businesses is already evident, with shop fronts and even a few cars brandishing the recognisable promotional stickers already.
Over the next 12 months, you will see an array of blue and yellow Think B4U Click promotional products by those businesses taking part.
The campaign is designed to be encouraging you to consider where your money goes when you shop online or out of town, and Think B4U Click.
When you make the conscious decision to shop locally, you are contributing to the overall development of the community and the future of local businesses and employment.
Many of our local businesses support local fundraisers, clubs and schools on a regular basis and they too shop locally to support the town.

Skipping to the heartbeat
Students of Edward Public School saw out the school term in style on Friday by participating in the school’s annual ‘Jump Rope for Heart’ event.
The special day encouraged students at EPS to become more active and learn new skills, while they raised funds to help a worthy cause.
They were encouraged to come to school in casual clothes and to bring in a gold coin donation to raise funds for the Heart Foundation.
The children learned a range of skipping tricks and skills, as well as the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
However, the highlight of the day was a special performance for EPS’s own Edward Skipping Team, who preformed their fantastic skipping routines for family, teachers and peers.
Overall the school was able to raise a total of $110 to donate to the Heart Foundation thanks to the students and staff.
Birthday wishes
Congratulations are in order for our sister paper The Riverine Herald in Echuca this edition.
The newspaper turned 160 on Saturday - an amazing feat for any regional newspaper.
The Riv, as it is affectionately known, is a fellow McPherson Media Group paper and one which we work closely with given our shared boundaries within the Murray River Council region.
As The Riv marks its birthday, we look forward to our next major milestone.
The Deniliquin Pastoral Times recently turned 164, which means our 165th is coming up in May next year.
