Although there have been some contrasting temperatures over the past week, conditions have been excellent and the forecast suggests that will continue into the busy Easter period.
The course is in top condition, so golfers and would-be golfers are encouraged to take advantage of this.
Last Saturday we played a stableford event, with Zach Pearce taking out A-grade on 39 points, from runner-up Prue Lloyd 38.
In B-grade George Maddison had 36 points to win by a shot to runner-up Ken Maher, and in C-grade Robert Campbell had 37 points from runner-up Ian Campbell 34.
Last Thursday was a stroke event and A-grade winner was Sarah Aitken net 74 from runner-up Prue Lloyd 76.
B-grade was dominated by the Mulhams, with Geoff recording an impressive net 64, from runner-up Leanne net 73.
In Wednesday’s stableford event there was a good field with three grades, despite the windy and cooler conditions.
A-grade winner was Tom Maw 37 points from runner-up Peter Locke 35, B-grade Rob Armytage 40 from runner-up Bob Landy 35, and C-grade John Metcalfe 34 from runner-up Sue Butcher 31.
Coming up we have a versus par event tomorrow for the Bruce Laing Cup, 9 holes stableford on Tuesday, then stableford events on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Unfortunately, the St Michael’s charity day, scheduled for this Sunday, has been cancelled.
If you had a team ready to go, perhaps transfer it to the Diggers Charity Day in late April.
Today is your last chance to take advantage of Free Golf Friday, which is from 2pm.
Social golf is free with no membership required.
Clubs, push buggies and carts will be available at member rates, with tees and golf balls supplied.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to ‘give golf a go’.
After golf, why not enjoy ‘Friday Night Fun’ in the clubhouse.
Meals are available and there will be meat/voucher raffles, with tickets on sale from 6pm and draws starting at 7pm.
Happy hour is 6pm to 7pm.
