Held on Saturday, November 23, the awards night received well over 4000 nominations and submissions to recognise educators and coordinators around the country.
Kirsty was nominated as an educator for her work with her day care service, Kirsty’s Family Day Care.
While Kirsty did not take home the top honour, she was a winner of the regional educator of the year award for NSW/ACT and a finalist in the national award.
Kirsty has only been operating her service for a little under three years.
"It's the families and children who are the heart and soul of everything I do and the reason my service is so special,“ she said.
“This recognition honours the meaningful relationships I’ve built and the positive impact I strive to make daily. It inspires me to continue providing the highest quality care, knowing my commitment to connection and learning is truly making a difference.”
Brian Irwin Memorial Shoot
On Sunday, November 24, the Deniliquin Field & Game group held their inaugural Brian Irwin Shooting event.
The event on Sunday saw 64 participants take part. As well as those participants, there was a number of families and people who came along supporting the event.
On the day, there were 75 Australian Simulated Field (ASF) Over The Glasses (OTG) events.
“By all reports participants thought highly of the targets thrown and enjoyed a day of friendly competition, camaraderie, and remembrance,” said Deniliquin Field & Game representatives.
A custom shooting jacket, donated by Brian’s wife Jenny Irwin, was part of the lucky door prize for the event.
Brian’s grandson, Harley Irwin, was, in fact, the lucky winner of the custom jacket.
Blue Heelers to host Proten members
The Deniliquin Blue Heelers Rugby League Club will be hosting members of the Proten Cup’s board when they have their committee meeting on Sunday, December 8.
The committee meeting will also double as somewhat of a ‘welcome’ to the league from the Proten board members on hand.
The meeting will be held at major sponsor the Railway Hotel, and will kick off at 12:30pm.
The afternoon will also provide an opportunity for locals interested in playing to come along and register in preparation for next season.
As well as this, the club have just finalised a sportsman evening, which the Railway will host next year on Saturday, March 22.
Four seasons in one ride
The Deniliquin High School students doing the Great Victorian Bike Ride have endured what could only be described as “four seasons in one day”.
On Tuesday, November 26, the students faced the elements on their near 60 km ride, finally arriving back in Wangaratta that afternoon to finish the fifth day of riding.
Finishing the fifth day also signifies the team passing the halfway mark for the nine-day ride event.
The Deni High team will complete the ride on Sunday, December 1, and will have travelled just under 500kms across the course of the ride.
