The colt ($14) ridden by Fred Kersley came from midfield at the 400m to defeat $5.50 favourite River Night by a head in The Showdown (1200m).
There was a break of 3 1/2 lengths to third placegetter Galactic Fury.
The Showdown for two year-olds was the main event on the Victorian Owners and Trainers’ annual race day.
Khoekhoe, trained by Matt Cumani, was a $21 chance when he won impressively at Echuca on April 5.
Cumani said the colt may go to Brisbane for the J J Atkins Stakes (1600m) on June 6.
Fred Kersley’s apprenticeship ended at Saturday’s meeting.
He is a talented rider deserving of support as a senior jockey.

Runaway, the 2018 Geelong Cup winner, made it two wins from two hurdle starts with a 10 lengths margin at Pakenham but was two seconds slower than Ancient King.
