Rochester Basketball Association’s grand final evening acted as a tribute to former president Greg Tiller and was a celebration of the community’s amazing resilience following the October 22 flood event.

Three boys divisions and a girls-only division were contested at the community centre and several of the town’s basketball stars rose to prominence on the night.
Bobby Watson and Seth Rasmussen combined to score all their team’s total in the B1 competition grand final.
They had strong opposition from Zayde Gibbs, who was responsible for all but one field goal in his team’s four-point loss, 14-10.
Gibbs shot eight and Heath Wilkins two points.
In the B2 final, all six members of the winning team got on the scoreboard.
Will Hayley led the way with 14 points and was supported by Olly Cuttriss with 10.
Zac Howard, Noah Makepeace and Charlie Pascoe also hit the scoreboard.
Though they lost by nine points, 25-34, Harrison Wilkins stood tall for his team and had support from Jameson Watson, Jack Martin and Corey Moroney, who all shot four points.
Patrick O’Sullivan also got his name on the score sheet.
A 51-39 win for the B3 premier came as a result of a dominant display from Harvey Keating, the star shooting 14 field goals and converting once from the charity strike for a game-high 29 points.
He had support from Max Lea (10 points), Logan Ireland (seven) and Makore Dickinson, who shot the only three-pointer for his team.
Asher Rasmussen shot two three-pointers for the runners-up, finishing with 22 points as he scored from the free-throw line and also shot seven field goals.
Walt James shot 10 points and Blake Kyne 5, with Amon Riordan also scoring a field goal.
Only one point separated the two girls’ division grand finalists.
Mila Cottam was the dominant force for the game as she shot all 15 points for her team.
The opposition had a more even spread — Sienna Weeks shooting six points and Sophie Kyne four, while Sunny Gibbs and Amelia Morris shot two points each.
MVPs in the grand finals were Bobby Watson, Will Hayler, Mila Cottam and Harvey Keating.
Medals were presented by Laura Mundie from Mundie Constructions, while 140 pizzas were served for players and their families.
