The Business Chamber’s Town Crier initiative is continuing to bring a vibrant mix of historical charm and practical communication regarding the communities of Corowa, Wahgunyah, and Rutherglen, with locals and visitors alike delighted by the sight.
The revival of the age-old tradition of town criers has become a dynamic and interactive way to keep locals informed and engaged with local happenings, enhancing community connectivity in a unique manner.
Locals Roy Monte and Leo Anic are the enthusiastic town criers who don traditional attire and walk down Sanger Street on the last Saturday of each month.
According to the chamber’s John Crothers, plans are in place to expand this initiative to Rutherglen and Wahgunyah.
To keep the initiative’s success ongoing, the Corowa Business Chamber actively seeks feedback from local businesses and the community. This input helps refine and improve the service, ensuring it remains relevant and beneficial for everyone involved.
