The Deniliquin Rams’ biggest ever reunion will begin tonight with a meet and greet at the clubrooms from 6pm.
The fun and memory sharing will continue tomorrow, when the Rams play host to Mulwala for a full day of football and netball action.
Rams president Ashley Hall said the reunion will be a great opportunity for all former players and supporters to check out the recent improvements to the Hardinge St Oval facilities.
“The club has undergone a variety of upgrades in the last few years and we wanted to open the place up to everyone who has been involved in the history of the Rams,” he said.
“The new lights and fencing will be completed by then, and along with the upgrades to the clubrooms more than two million dollars has been spent on the facilities.
“Our last reunion weekend was ruined by COVID so a lot of former players and members are yet to see the changes.’’
Mr Hall was quick to point out the reunion was not just for past footballers.
“We’ve held premiership reunions and past players’ days in recent years, but we want this to be much bigger than that.
“Footballers, netballers, sponsors, committee members, parents and supporters - we want everyone who has been through the gates at the Hardinge St Oval to come along.’’
Tonight’s schedule will include a tour of the facilities and a casual gathering over food and drinks.
This will be hosted by club legend Greg Danckert.
“We might give some club characters a chance to tell some stories but it will be a very relaxed atmosphere,” Danckert said.
While all eyes will be on the games tomorrow, Danckert said there would also be a few guest speakers.
The sporting action starts from early in the morning, with the official reunion activites from about 1pm.
Danckert added the reunion weekend will be free of charge and he is hoping to see as many former players and supporters as possible.
