Inaugural Yarkuwa holiday basketball program nets turnout

In the form of a 3x3 basketball tournament - similar to what will take place at the Paris Olympic Games - it was open to anyone of school age.

The competition saw teams of three compete against each other, with the focus of the day being on fun and participation.

The teams had four rounds of games before lunch and one round following lunch before award presentations.

The healthy and delicious lunch was provided as part of the program.

Sacha Free from Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre said the kids had lots of fun throughout the day.

“It was the first time it was run, so there’s a few teething issues but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”
