And the local not-for-profit community services organisation welcomes everyone to be part of the festivities being held in the CBD tomorrow.
Fifty years since its inception, Intereach continues its strong Deniliquin connection while expanding its footprint with an additional 16 offices spanning across the NSW Riverina/Murray and central and northern Victoria.
Deniliquin’s celebrations will be the grand finale in a series of events and activities dedicated to showcasing the stories of current and past members, participants, and staff, along with the enduring impact Intereach has had on its communities.
Intereach board of directors chair Rob Brown extended a warm invitation to all.
“We welcome everyone to come and celebrate not just an incredible organisation, but a legacy of impact spanning five decades,” Mr Brown said.
“In 1973, a small group of visionaries came together with a goal - to make a difference and build a brighter future for our communities. Since then, Intereach has evolved into something truly extraordinary.”
Originally called the Deniliquin Council for Social Development (DCSD), it began with seven foundation members - Aldermen Kevin G Renwick, Sylvia Baker, John Field and Hector Campbell, Total Aged Care chair Bert Farlow, secretary John Lindsay-Field and treasurer John Windridge - as well as a community development officer and part-time administration assistant.
Later rebranded as Intereach, the organisation now covers 38 local government regions across NSW and Victoria with more than 500 staff and 100 volunteers.
“We’ve touched the lives of thousands, always with our people at the heart of everything we do,” Mr Brown said.
“We want to thank not only our staff and volunteers, but the clients, participants and communities we have served.
“Despite the challenges of COVID-19 and the devastating floods of 2022, our people and communities have shown incredible strength and resilience – demonstrating that we are stronger together.
“Our people are the lifeblood of our organisation and we would be honoured to celebrate this momentous occasion with the community of Deniliquin where it all began.”
The celebrations will be held at The Kiosk in Cressy St tomorrow from 9am to noon.
There will be an opportunity for the community to chat with Intereach’s friendly staff, learn about the range of services and support available and enjoy complimentary treats and giveaways.
