Berrigan Shire Council approved a development application for the project this month, and construction is expected to start as early as next month.
Murrumbidgee Local Health District chief executive Jill Ludford said Zauner Construction Pty Ltd was awarded the contract after a competitive tender process.
‘‘Construction will commence in June and is expected to be completed by late-2021,’’ Ms Ludford said.
‘‘The new purpose-built onsite staff accommodation units will support the staffing and operations of the health service.’’
Three one-bedroom units will be built, each with self-contained facilities such as a kitchenette, ensuite and laundry.
The works will also include improvements to the rear laneway, which provides access to the health facility’s back of house services and staff parking.
One of the staff accommodation units has a ramp to increase accessibility and support people with mobility needs.
Three staff car parking spaces will be built as part of the project.
The units will be co-located on the Tocumwal MPS site.
The Tocumwal MPS redevelopment project was officially started in June 2017.
Previously completed works include an extension of the existing building for a new in-patient wing, reconfiguration and refurbishment of the existing residential aged care and in-patient areas to provide additional residential aged care beds and a lounge area for families and carers.
The project is being delivered as part of a $297 million Multipurpose Service program to provide health and aged care services for small and remote rural communities.
