All members of the Infocus Camera Club have one thing in common — a passion and flair for photography.

Members express their creativity through the shots they capture, and take joy in sharing the hobby together.
And even after almost a decade since being established, there’s always something new to learn or a new photography subject to explore.
‘‘We’ve been running for about eight years, and our purpose really is to have fun,’’ club secretary Bobby Murphy said.
“We take photos, show each other, and critique photos.
‘‘We also do exhibitions and have field trips , and have tuition nights and know your camera sessions.’’
The group was formed after some of its participants took a local TAFE course, and wanted to continue learning using the principles they were taught.
‘‘We enjoyed it so much we wanted to keep going,’’ Mrs Murphy said.
‘‘There was a film club before that, which disbanded, so we decided to start Infocus.’’
And what keeps the group fresh is the willingness of members to consider new subjects.
‘‘We usually set a program for the year with all different themes,’’ said Mrs Murphy.
‘‘We do seasons, and we recently did falling leaves which was great.
‘‘We also do street photography, landscape, architecture and night photography.
‘‘We’ve also done one theme just on the colour red.’’
Trying something new is also an important part of the creative process, and Mrs Murphy said members are consistently challenged to step outside their preferred style.
“Everyone’s got their speciality (in photography),” said Mrs Murphy.
‘‘Some people are really good bird photographers for example.
‘‘So we try to explore different genres, and experiment.’’
Infocus currently has 15 active members, and when not in lockdown they meet at least once a month.
When allowed, meetings will resume on the first Thursday of each month, at the Deniliquin Baptist Church in Edwardes St.
‘‘We are open to new members; come and have a try.
