Victorian Agriculture Minister Ros Spence has announced the two successful recipients of round one of the innovation fund and opened round two of the program.
Ms Spence said the government was backing innovative farmers to trial hands-on solutions.
“The On-Farm Emissions Action Plan Pilot (will) increase productivity and long term sustainability,” Ms Spence said.
“It is a key part of our $20 million Agriculture Sector Pledge, delivering a shared vision alongside industry to help farmers to reduce emissions while maintaining productivity and profitability.”
The On-Farm Emissions Action Plan Pilot offers grants of up to $100,000 to participants.
The pilot is a three-year initiative for 250 Victorian farmers and growers designed to help them identify their on-farm emissions profile, develop an emissions reduction plan, and apply for a grant to implement recommended actions from a pool of $5 million.
Ms Spence said both first round projects were under way, with a south Gippsland dairy awarded $30,000 and an east Gippsland beef cattle farm receiving $37,399.
The On-Farm Emissions Action Plan Pilot is a key initiative under Victoria’s first Agriculture Sector Emissions Reduction Pledge.
Applications for the second round of grants will be open to pilot participants until Friday, January 31, 2025.
