Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network has announced that residents of Moulamein and Tooleybuc now also have access to after-hours GP telehealth services thanks to its expanded after-hours care program.
Since 2023 MPHN has funded telehealth provider HealthAccess to provide after-hours GP telehealth services at no cost to the patient to Griffith and the Edward River, Berrigan Shire, Murrumbidgee, Carrathool and Leeton local government areas.
The expansion into Moulamein and Tooleybuc is thanks to the program’s success in these areas.
The service is available by calling 1800 272 767, and operates weeknights between 6pm and 10pm, and weekends and public holidays between 12pm and 4pm.
MPHN CEO Stewart Gordon said the service helps support community healthcare access.
“We know that the communities of Moulamein and Tooleybuc do not have a resident GP, and we hope that this new after-hours service option will go some way towards improving access to primary care for these communities,” Mr Gordon said.
“We’re working to provide this service for Murrumbidgee communities that we’ve identified as having limited or no after-hours GP service, a reliance on hospital emergency departments, and other barriers to access.’
The HealthAccess service is available to community members and residential aged care facilities in designated locations.
Patients can request to have their care information shared with their regular GP, supporting continuity of care.
“With the extension of HealthAccess to Moulamein and Tooleybuc, we are taking another step towards supporting timely, accessible after-hours healthcare for our regional communities,” Mr Gordon said.
The delivery of after-hours services is made possible through the Commonwealth Primary Health Network’s primary care after-hours funding.
