Gold for Ute Muster

The Deni Ute Muster won gold at the 2019 Destination Country and Outback and Destination Riverina Murray Regional Tourism Awards in Dubbo on Saturday night.

The Deni-based event was one of five finalists in the Festivals and Events category which recognises leisure festivals, events and exhibitions that enhance the profile, awareness and appeal of the destination they are held in as well as creating economic impact, increased visitation and community involvement.

Ute Muster general manager Vicky Lowry said it is the second consecutive year the event has claimed the top prize.

‘‘We are very excited and it just proves that the Deni Ute Muster is still up there and the purpose for which the muster was created is still working,’’ she said.

‘‘We hosted a smaller version of the awards last year here in Deniliquin and won the award, so to win again in a bigger section is incredible and I am very proud of the team and what we have achieved.’’

The awards provide tourism organisations and individuals an opportunity to gain an insight into their industry, their business, achieve recognition for their success and promote tourism within their region.

‘‘We went to Dubbo early to network with others in the industry and attend some of the workshops they were offering before the awards night,’’ Mrs Lowry said.

‘‘It was a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and overall was exciting to be recognised.’’

The Ute Muster is now automatically entered as a finalist in the NSW Regional Tourism awards later in the year.
