The Lego Club at Deniliquin Baptist Church started this term with an average of 20 children turning up to show their skills with the famous coloured bricks.

Penny Fowler, the Lego Club coordinator, said the children are encouraged to build beyond the brick house with a different challenge to complete each week.
“It’s amazing to see the creativity each child brings to the weekly challenges,” she said.
These have included building a tower that can withstand an ‘earthquake’, making a ship that actually floats on water as well as a team challenge where the kids worked together to build a space station and space fleet.
Each week there is time set aside for free play, where the kids can make whatever they want.
Mrs Fowler said she would like Lego Club to be more than a fun environment.
“Children will hopefully develop creativity, problem-solving skills and learn to work with others,” she said.
“And in addition to all that, it is a great opportunity to make new friends.
“Parents are welcome to stay, there is also Duplo available for kids under five years.”
The Deni Baptist Church Lego Club is for primary aged children (ages 5-12).
It is held every Tuesday of Term 3 from 4pm to 5.30pm at the ‘The Regent Theatre’ in Edwardes Street, Deniliquin.
The cost is $2 per week.
