Just over five years ago, St Anne’s College in Kialla opened its doors to students for the first time, welcoming an intake in two year levels only, Prep and Year 7.

As was the blueprint, each year since then, the college has added another level to both primary and secondary schools, with the Year 7s from that first year currently completing their final year of secondary studies.
“To experience first-hand the evolution of our inaugural group of Year 7s, who began in 2019, into our first Year 12 cohort has been extraordinary,” deputy principal community and wellbeing Kate McGrath said.
“To witness their development from children in their first year of secondary school into mature, skilled, passionate adults who are confident to lead and transfer their knowledge across all contexts they find themselves is incredible.”
Next year will see a full cohort of Prep to Year 12 classes at the college, with Year 6 students filling classes at the facility for the first time.
The college is split into three sub-schools, known as School of Wonder (Prep to Year 4), School of Innovation (Year 5 to Year 9), and School of Possibilities (Year 10 to Year 12), and students are split between four houses, each named after significant leaders in history.
“In celebrating and embracing diversity, we value the gift each person brings and contributes to creating a culture of inclusion, wellness and open-mindedness,” Ms McGrath said.
“At St Anne’s, we are nothing without joy.”
The college has experienced a “build year” where further construction occurs, as has been the case every second year since it opened.
The idea is that the structures built that year will be complete and ready to use at the beginning of the following.
This year, the college plan’s stage-three construction is in full swing, with the concrete slab for an exciting technology wing poured recently.
The building will be home to fabricating and general learning areas to facilitate studies including, but not limited to, product and materials, design and technology, wood, metal, textiles and robotics.
“St Anne’s is a vibrant and contemporary learning community, providing challenging and enriching experiences that will be engaging, practical and real-life, allowing all to flourish and be happy,” deputy principal teaching and learning Cherie Boltong said.
“Learners at St Anne’s are valued as competent and dynamic citizens of the world; a world that calls all to be the best we can be, where we are free to wonder, explore and inquire.”
When the college reaches capacity, there will be around 1200 students enrolled.
While St Anne’s is a Catholic education community, it welcomes “all inspired by a loving God, committed to faith, wisdom and learning”.
