The furniture arrived last week, consisting of a collection of new tables, chairs, and lounges that will brighten the communal living area at Navorina.
This is the first of three stages in the furnishing project, for which a fundraising appeal was started earlier this year.
More pieces of furniture will be sourced for the soon to be completed new outdoor area.
“Our outdoor areas are being upgraded at present thanks to a partnership Navorina have with the Three Rivers Department of Rural Health within Charles Sturt University,” Navorina CEO Paul Turner said.
“In the meantime five tables, 25 chairs and two lounges were added to the living area to add comfort and quality for the residents in their home.
“The new decor has been described as bright, cheerful, and practical, and residents say it has immediately made a big difference.”
Navorina has also already ordered and received a lot of other new equipment thanks to the ongoing fundraising carried out by the Navorina Auxiliary.
Mr Turner said the furniture’s arrival is a result of several donations, including $3000 from the Rotary Club of Deniliquin and Yield Insurance’s promise to match donations dollar for dollar until July 30, up to a total of $25,000.
“Every contribution helped. We received $2520 from the public Navorina GoFundMe, and we also got many other significant fund appeal contributions from local community members and organisations.
“The Depot donated a truck to collect the furniture from Sydney to eliminate delivery fees, and one of The Depot team members, John Haig, gave us his valuable time to even drive the truck.
“The residents and team of staff at Navorina are very happy and appreciative of the ongoing strong community support.”
