The NSW SES says that many communities along the Murray River and it’s tributaries may not yet have seen the peak of the water.
Minor flooding is occurring at Darlington Point.
The river height is currently 5.9m and rising.
The Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point was predicted to exceed 6.0m yesterday and may reach the moderate flood level (7.0m) late next week (October 20 or 21).
Closures in the area include:
• The Darlington Point Boat Ramp, floating pontoon and access road.
• The Darlington Point Caravan Park is OPEN with powered sites, cabins and unpowered sites available.
Please do not drive into the Caravan Park to view the river, as there is no access.
You can view the river by parking at Fig Tree Park (Stock Street), with a short walk to the levee.
The Murray River at Albury fell below the minor flood level (4.3m) Monday evening, however, the river level varies with releases from Hume Dam and floodwaters from the Kiewa River.
Flood operations are being conducted by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) at Hume Dam to manage inflows from the upper Murray, Mitta Mitta River and other tributaries.
MDBA is working closely with the Bureau of Meteorology and WaterNSW to plan release strategies.
Downstream along the Murray River, moderate flooding continues at Corowa, Torrumbarry and Barham.
Floodwaters from the Murray River combined with floodwaters from the Edward River have caused minor flooding at Wakool Junction and may cause minor flooding at Boundary Bend from early next week.
Along the Edward River, moderate flooding is occurring at Stevens Weir.
Minor flooding continues at Deniliquin and Moulamein.
In the Murray River downstream of Hume Dam to Tocumwal, moderate flooding is occurring along the Murray River at Corowa.
The Murray River at Albury fell below minor flood level is currently at 4.1m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Murray River at Corowa is currently at 6.14 metres and steady, with moderate flooding.
The Murray River at Corowa is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (5.9m) for the remainder of the week.
The Murray River downstream of Tocumwal to Barham sees moderate flooding occurring at Torrumbarry and Barham.
The Murray River at Torrumbarry Weir may remain around 7.7m for the remainder of this week, with moderate flooding.
The Murray River at Barham may reach near 6.05 metres today into Thursday, with moderate flooding.
