Rochester residents can now access financial counselling until the end of June 2025.

Campaspe Shire Council’s Lachlan Cozens attended the Rochester Business Network breakfast last Thursday morning, announcing the formal extension of the support for flood-affected victims.
“We’re here, we’re going to stay,” Mr Cozens said.
“Reach out and talk to us.”
The financial counselling service was started in January and provided help to 345 flood victims in six months.
The extra support comes as the two financial counsellors were to finish at the end of November.
Financial counsellors can offer advice regarding rights and responsibilities to negotiating with a creditor or working out a realistic payment plan for debts.
Financial Counselling Victoria executive officer Zyl Hovenga-Wauchope was relieved ongoing support would be provided to residents of Rochester as they navigated challenging flood repairs.
“Financial counsellors work with people from all walks of life to support and empower them to improve their financial situations. It is an essential service,” Mrs Hovenga-Wauchope said.
“Addressing financial problems has a positive impact on mental health outcomes and creates the space for people to focus on other areas of their lives.”
Victorian Consumer Affairs Minister Gabrielle Williams spoke of the additional, ongoing support for Rochester residents.

“Unexpected financial hardship can come at any time and, as a community, it’s essential that we stand together to help those in need,” Mrs Williams said.
“Making free, confidential financial counselling available during difficult times can help people take stock, get back on their feet and thrive.”
