Shannon Sampson, who is seeking re-election to the council, is currently in ninth position in the progressive vote tally.
But he has failed to gain any extra votes from the additional 246 counted since Thursday last week.
He remains on 121, while David ‘Baron’ Schoeffel edges closer, having polled an additional six votes since last week to now have 119.
And not far behind him with 112 - four more than last week - is Richard McDaid.
Sitting in eighth place so far, with 154, is Linda Fawns.
Almost 90 votes ahead of her is Ken Bates on 241.
Still confidently leading the pack is Kellie Crossley who has gained an additional 30 votes since last week to be on 982.
She is one of only four candidates to so far exceed the progressive quota of 488.
Others are Ashley Hall on 738, Craig Druitt on 732 and Frank Schofield on 612.
Rounding out the top nine so far are Leanne Mulham (fifth position) with 446 and Shirlee Burge (sixth) with 388.
With a possible 6428 votes in Edward River, 5104 ballots have been counted to date.
The remaining 1324 votes could potentially change the bottom order for the candidates, as could the distribution of preferences.
The final date for postal votes to be returned in this Friday.
The NSW Electoral Commission is not expecting the polls to be officially declared until the first week of October.

Less than 40 additional votes have been counted in the Greater Murray ward of Murray River Council, which sees Joy Allan pulling away from Norman Berger and likely to take the third seat on the council.
Mrs Allan leapfrogged Mr Berger in the vote count late last week, eight votes ahead.
She now has 300 votes, to be 15 votes clear of Mr Berger’s 285.
Still leading the polls in the ward is Kylie Berryman, whose vote count has increased to 610.
Geoff Wise is second with 526.
Tom Weyrich has gained a few extra votes, but still with only 245, a return to council seems unlikely.
Kron Nicholas will also not return, polling only 110 so far.
In the Moama ward, there has been no change in the order since the early days of counting.
Gen Campbell (448 votes), John Harvie (432) and Bianca Hurn (418) are still likely to be elected to represent the ward.
They all sit well clear of the bottom order, with Chris Bilkey next on 304, Graeme Blow on 250, Frank Crawley on 152 and Michael Ludeman on 137.
