The annual Marc Kingston Memorial Toy Run is coordinated by the Ulysses Motorcycle Club, with support from the Deniliquin Antique Vehicle Club and Deniliquin Salvation Army.
Salvos community engagement worker Sandra Whyborn said thanks to the generous donations they have received, from the toy run and for the Salvos Christmas food hampers, more families had a better Christmas than anticipated.
She siad the efforts benefited more than 100 children and 60 families in our community.
“The gift preparation was a labour of love, with each present carefully wrapped for the children,” she said.
“A heartfelt thank you goes to the dedicated volunteers - Janette, Yvonne, Chris, June and Jan - who generously gave their time to wrap gifts for more than 100 youngsters.
“We were overwhelmed with the generosity of the Deniliquin community.
“We would like to thank Deniliquin Men's Shed for their handmade toys, and MFS Gym and SunRice for their donations of toys.
“Our community has been very generous, and your donations are enormously appreciated - because they really do give hope where it's needed most.”
Support for the community continues with the Salvation Army and Rotary Club of Deniliquin community food pantry.
It will be open on Thursday, January 2, from 10am to 1pm at the Salvation Army Church, 60 Edwardes St, Deniliquin.
