Despite the wind and busy football and netball schedules, Pretty Pine Father’s Day Market and Expo was a great event.
Families were sharing photos of social media from the day, indicating the fun that was had.
Elsewhere, many people enjoyed the sunshine in town, at local businesses and eateries or by cycling and adventuring around town.
Hopefully, it was an enjoyable Father’s Day for all, whether busy or relaxed.

Small fire reignites
Deniliquin’s Fire + Rescue NSW brigade were out and about a few times over the last few days, but thankfully not for any major incidents.
The call-outs have prompted some reminders from brigade Captain Marty Smith, however.
Capt Smith is again reminding Deniliquin residents that permits must be obtained for all outdoor burns in the township.
Burns should first be registered with Edward River Council, and then approved by the Deniliquin NSW Fire + Rescue Brigade.
The second reminder from Capt Smith is that you must understand and abide by all permit conditions.
This has been prompted by firefighters being called to a burn thought to have been extinguished, which reignited as a result of wind.
“It is a condition of the permit that when you do have a fire, the fire must be fully extinguished before you leave it,” Capt Smith said.
Ducklings arrive
We’re only three days into spring, and our local birdlife are right on cue.
New clutches of ducklings have been introduced into the parks that surround the lagoons.
While they are cute and fluffy, we feel obligated to remind you that their parents are anything but if you happen to get too close.
Admire the new additions from afar, or you might find yourself running for cover from the protective mumma ducks.
The new ducklings also mean you can expect to see larger clusters of ducks trying to cross the road than normal, with some of them a bit slower than the adults.
Please take care when driving near the lagoons.
Watch those maggies
You also have to watch out for the other breed of protective birds, magpies.
You may recall we reported a few weeks back that the swooping brigade had already started their spring campaign, with a few of the birds near the Civic Place lagoons coming in hot already.
But now that the season has officially sprung, you can expect the maggies to start ramping up their offensive.
Unlike the ducks, there’s little warning when the magpies feel threatened.
Take precautions where you can.
Finals fever
It was a weekend of sporting action across the district at the weekend, with finals being played across both the Murray and Picola leagues.
There were four Deni Rams teams competing in elimination finals on Sunday in Tongala, with the under-17s netball and seniors football going through with a stellar fourth quarter to come back from a 26-point third quarter deficit to win by 16 points.
While in the Picola League, Mathoura did an excellent job hosting a packed preliminary final on Saturday.
The Cutters’ under-13s team competed against Deni Rovers, with the latter going through to the grand final.
The Rovers had six teams compete at Mathoura, and two compete on Sunday at Yarroweyah.
Five netball teams were victorious, proceeding to the grand final this week at Rennie.
There were huge crowds and local contingents to support all clubs at all the games.
