With it, the RSL Bowls Club will be bringing back a fun, fast-paced bowls format.
A 3-bowl pairs event, each pair in a team will bowl three bowls, giving a total of six bowls between a pair.
The ‘skins’ component of the event means that money can be won on each game. In this case, sometimes it's each end.
The event will see 15 games played, pitting pair against pair in a series of short two-end games.
Winners of each game get $6 for that win, except the major prize winners.
Major prizes will be decided by the number of games won and shots, which will be tallied up to find the overall tournament winners.
There is an entry fee of $60, which goes toward the total prize money and will also include your lunch on the day.
A total prize pool of $1,800 will be up for grabs, provided there is a full field of bowlers.
Organiser and Deniliquin RSL Bowling Club president Tony Tonta encouraged people to sign up for the “fun and fast paced” event.
“It’s a bit of a different event, with the playing format,” he said.
“There are quick games that are lots of fun, and by winning you can pocket some money.”
This will be the third year that the event has been run.
Tonta said he expects players from past years to return, but the club is also expecting and welcoming newcomers.
And the spots are filling fast, he said.
“We’ve only got about five or six spots left,” he said.
“We have players coming from Echuca, Moama, Barham, Melbourne, Moulamein and as far as the Mornington Peninsula.”
The event draws about 25 teams each year.
Those interested in entering should contact Tonta on 0418 817 744, or email the club at rslbowlstournaments@outlook.com.
